Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Hyderabad, is providing practical training and project work to UG and PG students of Engineering, Sciences, MCA and MBA.
These internships are offered twice a year – Summer Term (May to July) and Winter Term (November to January of the next year).
The duration of the project will be 45 days to 2 months for ME/MTech students and 1 month to 45 days for other students.
Eligibility for internship
Students of the following disciplines are eligible for internships.
Engineering – BE/BTech 5th semester and above and ME/MTech students
- Mechanical
- Chemical
- Civil
- Metallurgy
- Electrical
- Electronics
- Instrumentation
- Computer Science
Sciences (M.Sc First year and above)
- Physics
- Chemistry
MBA (First year and above)
- Finance
- HR
MCA (First year and above)
Students need to have scored above 60% marks in their previous semesters to be eligible for the project work.
Number of Interns
Summer term – 400 interns
Winter term – 200 interns
The selection is on first come first serve basis. Students are required to apply at least one month prior to their desired start of the training.
How to apply for NFC Internship
Students should apply via their college/university on the institution’s letterhead with the student’s resume. They need to also mention their academic record, discipline of study, the period of the project and specific interests, if any.

Please note that students an employee of NFC needs to be their local guardian. Students will not be provided any accommodation facility.
Students also need to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have valid certificates.

Should you apply for the NFC internship?
If you are looking for an internship in core disciplines, you can definitely apply for this training program. Especially if you are from Tier 2 and Tier 3 colleges, where only IT-related internships are usually available. If you plan to apply for PSU jobs in future via GATE, this internship will will prove to be a great learning experience and add value to your resume.
CSE and IT related students may have better opportunities outside that even offer good stipends. NFC calls this a ‘training’, therefore there is no promise of a stipend here. However, that this is only a one month commitment and if you just want to learn, it will not disappoint you.
The main drawback of this internship or training is the requirement of an NFC employee to be a ‘guardian’. Eligible students are 18+ and don’t really need ‘guardians’. It is not really fair of NFC to make this mandatory in the 21st century. However, you probably can look around your friends’ circle (parents’ friends’ circle to be precise) and find an employee who is willing to be your ‘guardian’. 😜
Planning all this can take a bit of time, so please start planning 6 months in advance, as getting your college’s approval on their letterhead and then finding a guardian can take a bit of time and effort.
