The National Testing Agency has notified the dates for CUET – 2023 for admission to UG programs and the integrated PG programs at the participating Universities across India.

The CUET is being in response to the difference in evaluation formats and syllabus at the 12th standard level of different boards. Some of the boards were awarding highly inflated marks being to ensure their students gain entry to the prestigious central universities.

The board exam cut offs at Delhi University in 2021 was as high as 100% for BA (H) in History – something which none of the students in most of the 12th state boards in India could have secured. This was leading to extreme stress to students on one hand and also questions being raised about awarding 100% to students, even in subjects like Hindi at the 12th boards level.

CUET will hopefully reduce these illogical awarding of marks to students.

CUET (UG) – 2023 will be held in the Computer Based Test (CBT) and will be conducted in 29 different subjects.

Final Words

Students are already being stressed out over entrance exams for professional courses. The coaching class culture prevails for these entrance exams and attempts should be made to make school education an enjoyable, learning experience for students and not a pressure test.

The introduction of CUET for non-professional UG courses like BA, B.Com and B.Sc may lead to the beginning of the coaching class culture in these courses as well.
